MANCHESTER, NHCafé la Reine, the heart of Manchester’s coffee house scene, has announced that they have switched to Flight Coffee Co., of Bedford, NH, as their primary roaster. Café la Reine will begin serving up coffee from Flight on October 7 and will be holding an event all-day on October 11 to introduce customers to Flight Coffee’s line of international flavors.

Owner of Café la Reine, Alexandra Horton, opened her shop in downtown Manchester in 2013. As a recent college graduate, Horton saw a need for a community space in the city she called home. Now, seven years later, Horton feels that locals have found their “third place,’ with Café la Reine, and is thrilled to introduce her customers to new coffees from different parts of the world, new brewing methods such as pour-overs, and an elevated coffee experience.

“Our coffee will be different, but change is good! We are so excited for our new offerings, and we invite our customers to talk with us, share their thoughts, ask for samples, and be a part of this transition into our new partnership with Flight,” said Horton.  “Flight Coffee Co. is heavily focused on high quality, single-origin coffees. They have organic offerings, and many of their coffees are highly rated and award-winning.”

Claudia Barrett, Founder of Flight Coffee Co., is particularly excited to be collaborating with another woman-owned business. “A woman-owned business alone has no power; two or more women businesses coming together has an impact,” said Barrett.

Barrett shares that when she first started roasting in 1994, she had to quite literally beg her way into the roasting facility. Today, there are many great women coffee roasters and the number is growing. “I think Alex and I can do a lot of meaningful work together, especially local organizations such as “Girls at Work,” said Barrett.

Both women share the belief that coffee is a unifier and that this business partnership will strengthen the Manchester community – coffee and beyond.

The public will have the opportunity to give the coffee a taste during Café la Reine’s pour-over event Take Flight With Us on October 11, 2019 between Noon and 2 p.m. at the cafe’s headquarters – 915 Elm Street. During this event, both crews from Café la Reine and Flight Coffee Co., will be serving up samples and pour overs and will be ready to chat with you about this exciting collaboration.
