The NH Office of Employment Security in Manchester  is temporarily closed for the remainder of the week after indoor air quality tests detected a low-level mold spore in the ventilation system.

Deputy Commissioner Rich Lavers said there were no reports of illness connected to the mold, and closing the office was done as a precaution to allow for cleaning.

“The company that did the testing did not recommend that we close the office, but we felt it was best to do so in order to properly clean the ventilation system,” Lavers said.

Initially one conference room within the building was closed off on Monday, but on Oct. 21 the decision was made to close the office entirely, Lavers said.

Those who had scheduled appointments this week are being rescheduled, Lavers said.

Clients in need of computer services are being directed to other sources of free public computers around the city, via the Employment Office website which include:

Manchester City Library
405 Pine Street

Homeless Services Center
140 Central Street

Manchester Community Resources Center
434 Lake Avenue

William B. Cashin Senior Activity Center
151 Douglas Street

“We just want to remind people as long as they have access to a computer with an Internet connection they can file a claim from anywhere,” Lavers said.

Clients may also receive services at any other state employment office, with locations in Nashua, Salem, Concord, Somersworth and Portsmouth.
