New Hampshire’s ‘Kid Conservationist’ and author raising $5,000 to save the orangutans

New Hampshire’s Kid Conservationist has made it his mission to help get orangutans off the endangered species list. Jack has worked toward this by educating others on the remarkable species and threats that continue to impact their habitat in Southeast Asia. He has participated in readings of his book to school children throughout the state and plans to travel to Indonesia in October 2022 to work on future conservation projects, including the planting of trees via his Earth Day donations.

Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County is inviting area runners and walkers to lace ‘em up for a worthy cause and join the third annual Step up 5K Run-Walk on Saturday, May 28 at Mine Falls Park in Nashua.

More than 200 supporters, friends and community leaders gathered recently at the Derryfield Country Club in support of the 10th Annual Safe Sports Social.  Attendees were treated to inspirational stories about young athletes overcoming challenges, presentations from student-athletes, and learned about the compelling work of Safe Sports.

Indigenous heritage projects at UNH and UMaine among 80 national grant winners

Rep. David Price, D-NC 4th District, said that the grants come “at a critical juncture in national conversations, at a time when some are urging the whitewashing of history, some are urging that history should be told only in ways that make us feel good and proud. We know that that isn’t true history. True history represents an encounter with our past with its negative as well as positive aspects, and hopefully that lays the groundwork for a better future. 

Bill Rider retires, reflects on 37 years of service with the Mental Health Center

Anticipation built outside the offices of the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester at 2 Wall Street on a Monday afternoon as staff from the organization waited for their Chief Executive Officer Bill Rider to come out. He was a kind gentleman who liked wearing bowties to work; as such, purple bowties were passed out among the staff who waited outside. They anticipated him coming down from the second floor to exit the building on his last day of work.

Manchester Historic Association’s new director, ready to ‘collect, preserve, and share Manchester’s history’ 

Jeff Barraclough has officially begun in his new role as Executive Director of the association. He has extensive experience in the museum and historical field, having previously worked at the Adams National Historic Park, New England Historic Genealogical Society, and as Director of Operations of the Manchester Historic Association for ten years.  He most recently served as Executive Director of the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden in Portsmouth.
