SBA’s Guzman kicks off national road show at NH Small Business Awards

MANCHESTER, NH – U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Isabella Guzman will kick off her national Small Business Week road show Tuesday in New Hampshire, one of four state’s she’ll visit next week.

Guzman will be the guest at the 2024 New Hampshire SBA Award Ceremony, joining SBA District Director Amy Bassett, along with NH SBA staff, resource partners, lenders, and local officials from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Tupelo Music Hall, Derry.

The ceremony recognizes the successes of the 10 New Hampshire 2024 Small Business Award winners announced in March.

Guzman is kicking off her Small Business Week national tour with the New Hampshire visit. She will also visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Denver, Colorado, and Billings, Montana.

Before she hits the road for New Hampshire, Guzman will preside over the National Small Business Week award ceremony this weekend. The ceremony honors the 50 state Small Business Person of the Year Awards, including New Hampshire winners Susan Borchert and Betsy Harrison, of Counseling Associates of New London. At the ceremony, Guzman will announce the National Small Business Person of the Year, chosen from among the 50 state winners.

Other New England winners are Matthew Polstein, New England Outdoor Center, Millinocket, Maine; Stephanie Vanderbilt, Coastal Windows & Exteriors, Beverly, Massachusetts; Kerry Boyle, Integrative Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Montpelier, Vermont; Maria Miranda, Miranda Creative, Norwichtown, Connecticut; and Brian Goldman, Big Blue Bug Solutions, Providence, Rhode Island.

“Our 2024 National Small Business Week award winners exemplify excellence, innovation, and commitment, and the SBA is proud to showcase their incredible achievements and impact on their communities and our economy,” Guzman said in a Wednesday news release. “National Small Business Week is the nation’s opportunity to lift up the amazing entrepreneurs, small business advocates, local partners, advisors, lenders, and investors who support America’s entrepreneurial spirit.”

Recognized at Tuesday’s ceremony will be:

  • Small Business Persons of the Year: Susan Borchert and Betsy Harrison,  Counseling Associates PLLC, New London
  • Home-Based for NH and New England: Logan Snyder, HasOptimization LLC, Canterbury
  • Young Entrepreneurs for NH and New England: Bryce Harrison, Ian Lubkin and James Gaudreault; Cheese Louise, Portsmouth, North Conway and Portland, Maine
  • District Director Award: Richard Tango-Lowy, Dancing Lion Chocolate, Manchester
  • Veteran Owned: Ken Whitten and Joseph Whitten, Apparel Impact LLC, Hooksett
  • Woman Owned: Danielle Jones, Abenaki Trail Restaurant, North Conway
