Doctor’s Day: Elliot honors physicians for excellence

Share

MANCHESTER, NH — Elliot Health Systems hosted a Doctors’ Day celebration last week to congratulate and thank all of its medical staff.  The evening concluded with two prestigious honors being announced:

Stephen A. Tzianabos MD Award for Physician Excellence

Johny Kuttab MD.

This award was presented to Gavin Muir MD in recognition of the physician who, throughout their career, has been devoted to the growth and development of the Elliot Health System and who has performed outstanding deeds requiring great intellect, refined skill, medical expertise, and collegial collaboration.  Dr. Muir has provided outstanding leadership and has touched the lives of thousands of people in the community. His career is marked by integrity and excellence and he serves as a role model for physician leaders.

Dr. Muir has been part of the fabric of healthcare in greater Manchester since he joined the Elliot staff in 1998. His altruism led him to a role of caring for the underserved and underrepresented, and at times voiceless population – those most in need of care through the Manchester Community Health Center. His chosen path led him to find creative avenues to provide the best care in the most efficient ways without sacrificing excellence and quality despite any impediments placed before him. This dedication to quality led him, in 2007, to a role of creating and serving as Chair of the Medical Staff Peer Review Committee – the MSRC.    Dr. Muir is truly the pioneer behind this group that holds accountable every provider, to standards and ethics that are beyond reproach.  He has also served on the Elliot Medical Executive Committee in 2005 – 2006 and again from 2011 through 2014.  Anyone who has served with him knows that Dr. Muir brings wisdom and foresight to advance the goals of the health system with a steady and mindful eye on the needs of the community we serve.  His fairness and enthusiasm and his continual quest to do what is best and what is right at all times is exemplary.

2019 Physician of the Year was awarded to Johny Kuttab MD

Gavin Muir, MD

This award recognizes the physician who, through their current efforts, exhibits leadership in their area of expertise and who has practiced in their chosen area of medicine with exceptional skill and dedication.

Since his arrival at Elliot in 2017, Dr. Kuttab has helped to ensure 24/7 stemi coverage, has been instrumental in becoming an Impella percutaneous circulatory support hospital, and has become known for his calm and pleasant demeanor in all of his interactions.  Dr. Kuttab is always willing to support the needs of his colleagues and most especially Elliot’s cardiovascular patients.

Dr. Kuttab completed his Internal Medicine training at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA. He went on to be a Chief Medical Resident and an instructor of medicine for an additional year. He subsequently pursued his general cardiovascular, advanced heart failure/transplant, and interventional cardiology training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He served as a Chief Fellow for the department.
